Clyde Shirley U.S. Constitution Scholarship is a competition for a $1000 Clyde Shirley U.S. Constitution Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year. This scholarship will be awarded to a College of Arts and Sciences freshman in their first semester at USC who has written the best original essay on a topic dealing with the U.S. Constitution. This essay should be an original work with cited sources in the APA or MLA style. The topic for the 2023-24 essay contest is: Is the Constitution still the Supreme Law of the land? Essays should be 1000-1500 words in length and must be double-spaced and either computer-generated. The winner will be selected by a team of USC faculty judges according to the thoughtfulness and persuasiveness of the argument, demonstration of knowledge of the Constitution, and overall writing ability. The award is renewable for a total of 4 years counting 2023-24 as long as the student is a member of the College of Arts and Sciences.
