The G. Richard Shafto Fellowship

Applicant must be a Broadcast Journalism major in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. The student must have completed J361. The G. Richard Shafto Student Fellowships are for Broadcast Journalism Majors who want an intense internship experience at WIS-TV and it’s Emmy Award winning Newsroom. The Shafto Student Fellow spends at least 140 hours of internship work in the WIS Newsroom, working with reporters, producers, and news management as a part of the daily new operation of the station. They also complete a project wtih a faculty advisor. Students receive a $3,000 stipend as part of the internship, and then bring their experiences back to the classroom as they work with the Senior Semester Newscast.
